Who biorevitalization suits

Hyaluronic acid holds water in the skin, which keeps it hydrated and firm. The skin has less of it as we age, and summer sun and dry air during the heating season dehydrate it further. It looks dull, flakes and feels tight after washing. Biorevitalization is recommended for exactly this lack of moisture, and when the skin has lost firmness and fine lines have appeared. Even oily skin can be dehydrated.

The product used for biorevitalization is fluid and spreads within the skin, so the shape of your face and its volume don’t change. Deep wrinkles and lost volume are treated with other methods: volume is added to the lips or cheekbones with thicker fillers in dermal filler treatments, and expression lines on the forehead and between the brows are smoothed with botulinum toxin injections.

How biorevitalization works at Viva Clinic

First, you come in for a consultation at the Viva Clinic aesthetic medicine center at 16b/3 Kuzovkova St. The cosmetic doctor examines your skin, asks about illnesses, medication and allergies and checks for contraindications. Mention any injections or peels you’ve had before, and when. The doctor chooses the product and plans the course after the examination. The clinic’s cosmetic doctors are trained in injection cosmetology, including biorevitalization products.

On the day of the procedure, the skin is cleansed and treated with an antiseptic. The doctor then injects a hyaluronic acid product with a fine needle, in small amounts across the whole area. Small bumps remain at the injection sites and usually go away within a few days. So don’t schedule the procedure right before a celebration or a photo shoot. It’s best to avoid alcohol the day before.

Biorevitalization is usually a course of several sessions a few weeks apart. This is a paid treatment.

Needle-free biorevitalization: PRX-T33

If you’d rather avoid injections, ask about PRX-T33. It’s offered as needle-free biorevitalization: the product is applied to the skin, and nothing is injected. Technically it’s a peel, so PRX-T33 is part of our chemical peels. A cosmetic doctor will tell you at the consultation which option suits your skin better.

How biorevitalization differs from mesotherapy and fillers is explained in our article what biorevitalization is and how many sessions you need.

What to avoid after biorevitalization

Don’t knead or massage the bumps after the injections; they’ll go away on their own. A few more rules:

  • skip makeup on the first day, and don’t touch your face unless you need to;
  • for the first 48 hours, avoid saunas, bathhouses, pools and hot baths, and put off intense workouts;
  • avoid tanning, and apply SPF when you go outside;
  • have peels or facial massage only when your doctor allows it;
  • put off dental work that may make your gums bleed for 3–4 weeks.

Call the doctor who did the procedure right away if the skin in the injection area turns white, blue or blotchy, or the pain gets worse. If your vision suddenly worsens, your eye hurts, you see double or your eyelid droops, call an ambulance on 103. Also call 103 if your face, tongue or throat swells and breathing becomes difficult.

Contact a doctor the same day if, days or weeks later, the swelling gets worse, the skin in the injection area becomes hot and red, painful lumps or pus appear, or you develop a fever.

Questions about biorevitalization

How many biorevitalization sessions do I need?

It's usually a course of several sessions a few weeks apart. A cosmetic doctor works out how many you need after examining your skin: it depends on your skin's condition, your age and the product. The doctor draws up the course plan before the first session.

Does biorevitalization hurt?

You'll feel the injections, but there's usually no severe pain. How it feels depends on the area and your pain threshold, and some people have more sensitive skin than others. If you don't tolerate pain well, mention it at the consultation, and the doctor will suggest how to make the procedure more comfortable.

How long does biorevitalization last?

The effect gradually fades because hyaluronic acid breaks down in the skin over time. How quickly that happens depends on your skin, the product and your lifestyle, so it varies from person to person. Your doctor will tell you after the course whether you need maintenance sessions and when.

Who shouldn't have biorevitalization?

The procedure isn't done, or is postponed, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, with herpes or skin inflammation in the injection area, an acute infection or fever, blood clotting disorders, anticoagulant use, an allergy to any component of the product or a flare-up of a chronic illness. Your doctor checks for contraindications at the consultation.

How is injectable biorevitalization different from PRX-T33?

In injectable biorevitalization, the doctor injects a hyaluronic acid product into the skin with a fine needle. PRX-T33 is done without needles: it's a peel, and the product is applied to the skin. A cosmetic doctor will tell you at the consultation which suits your skin better.
